Kashmir! Kashmir! Kashmir!. Wah kya baath hai! Non-veg is eaten generally almost every other day. The Wazwan dishes are delicious. i have travelled through the mountains, roads and streets of kashmir trying each dish in different places from restraurents, homes and road side eateries. Suprisingly a lot of rice is eaten in kashmir. breakfast usually consists of Kashmiri roti and chai with a secret powder that energizes them. Areas of Darbagh, Harwan has houses with apple trees, tamato plants and one or two wallnut trees at least, some of the houses breed cows giving them fresh milk, cottage cheese and other dairy products. There is "nun-chai" which is also had for breakfast, (namkeen chai). Streets of kashmir near mosques and bazaars have lot of street food, both veg and non-veg.

Kashmiri roti is made everyday in bakeries, and is usually bought hot by people early in the morning. Though it is available throughout the day, it tastes best early in the morning. Kashmiriyat is the centuries-old indigenous tradition of communal harmony and religious syncretism. While i was visiting homes of people, i was fed stomach full at each home, there was atleast 2 non-vegetarian dishes along with acroat ki chutney and freshly plucked apples. Though it is not seen much in Srinagar, considering the amount of tourists, the places away from the city like Harwan is a beautiful place with really sweet people. Its an age old tradition of "mahman nawazi", to treat guests with respect and love. Kashmiri people do get sad when one refuses to eat at their homes, one is never left empty stomach in one of these houses!
