Horses are assigned to trekking groups to carry tents, kitchen material and offloading luggage of trekkers. These horses are taken care by ghodewalas. They speak in a pahadi language called "GOJRI" and listen to local gojri music to keep them going.

Yousaf Chacha works with trekking groups by providing them assitance with the horses, work in travelling kitchen and setting up the tents. He is a 60 yr young man who walks on edges of the mountains to collect vegetables for the meals and always walks with a smile.

He used to perform dance as means to earn money in the past. People used to call him to perform at their weddings, festivals and gatherings. He says he has somuch fun dancing, moving his legs and hands in tune with the Kashmiri music.

"I have to work on field all day and its boring to keep at it. It is so nice here in the mountains, walking every day with the horses and seeing the beauty of Kashmir. I never get bored of walking in the mountains" says Yousaf chacha.
